Through the GEN-ZINU Festival 2026, MA Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Students Win Arabic Speech Champion

Tebuireng.online— The list of achievements was added by students of MA Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Tebuireng through the GEN-ZINU Festival 2026. At the event which was part of the commemoration of the 1st Century of Nahdlatul Ulama, Fahri Hafidz Ubaidillah appeared with an Arabic speech and succeeded in winning second place amidst competition from participants from various regions in East Java. This activity was organized by PWNU East Java and took place in Kampung Coklat, Blitar, Thursday (6/2/2026).

For the class XII-F student at MA Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Tebuireng from Magelang, this event was not the first experience. He has been accustomed to participating in various Arabic speech competitions for the last few years. This experience made him able to appear calm, even though the preparation for the competition was relatively short and the implementation conditions were not completely ideal.

“I took the title following the four characteristics of the Prophet to lead NU, because I think leaders must have these four characteristics,” said Fahri when interviewed in the madrasah library (8/2).

He explained that the training time leading up to the competition was quite tight. However, the limited time did not make him feel nervous, considering that he had often participated in similar competitions before.

“I’m not nervous, because I have often participated in competitions like this. “Just yesterday, when it rained heavily, my voice lost to the sound of the rain,” he said.

Apart from weather factors, Fahri also had to adapt to sudden technical changes made by the committee. These changes also influenced his speech delivery strategy.

“There are provisions that have been changed, from 10 minutes to 7 minutes for speeches,” he said.

Even though he only won the top prize, Fahri was still grateful for the results he obtained and used this experience as evaluation material for his next performance.

“Alhamdulillah, we are still given the opportunity to win. “Yes, although there is hope, I hope that when I take part in the competition, it will be better than yesterday,” he said.

This achievement was welcomed happily by Fahri’s parents. Family support is one of the factors that continues to motivate him to excel.

“Alhamdulillah, parents are happy to know that their child won the championship,” he said.

Within MA Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Tebuireng, Fahri is known as a student who consistently makes achievements in the field of Arabic speech. Almost every year he manages to take home an award.

A number of achievements he has achieved include 3rd place in Porseni Arabic Speech in Jombang, 1st place in Arabic Language Speech at the Trensen ELP Unit in 2025, 2nd place in ELP Arabic Speech in 2024, and 3rd place in Arabic Khitobah in 2023. At the 2026 GEN-ZINU Festival, Fahri also received a cash prize of one million rupiah, a trophy, a certificate, and a two semester scholarship at one of the university in Malang.

Apart from actively making achievements, Fahri is also known to actively devote himself to the Islamic boarding school environment. Since boarding at the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School in 2023, he has been listed as part of the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School’s ta’mir and is often tasked with giving the call to prayer. Until now, Fahri has memorized 10 chapters of the Al-Qur’an and plans to continue his education at Ma’had Aly because of his interest in hadith science.

“I want to study at Ma’had Aly because it suits my passion for hadith science,” he said.

Fahri’s supervising teacher, Dewi Purwati, as the Arabic language subject teacher at MA Salafiyah Syafi’iyah Tebuireng, revealed that Fahri is a student who he almost always involves in every Arabic language competition.

“Fahri is taking part in the competition for the umpteenth time. From grades 10, 11 to 12, I often took them to competitions. “If there’s an Arabic language competition, I’ll definitely invite him, especially if it’s a sudden competition,” said Miss Dewi.

According to him, Fahri has the ability to memorize and understand Arabic texts very well, making the coaching process easier ahead of the competition.

“I’ll give you the text now, tomorrow Fahri will have memorized it. “The child is easy to direct and the child is enthusiastic,” he added.

Miss Dewi also said that Fahri felt sad because he only won second place. However, he tried to calm Fahri by providing reinforcement regarding his future plans.

“Yesterday he said, ‘I’m sorry miss, I’m not optimal’. Then I said it was okay. If you win, you will get a full scholarship in Malang, then you will be confused again, because your destiny is in Ma’had Aly, son. “You have always intended to go there,” he said when interviewed by the Tebuireng Online team.

He hopes that Fahri can continue to develop, achieve success in the future, and continue to serve within the Tebuireng Islamic Boarding School.

“I hope Fahri can be more successful in the future. “He also wants to serve at Tebuireng, because now he is part of the Islamic boarding school’s ta’mir, where he usually calls to prayer,” he concluded.
